Size Matters....

I tackled my BIGGEST project yet.. our TV hutch in our bedroom. It matched the side table that I did last week. I knew this was going to be a big project but not this BIG. It took me 2 full days of painting and waxing. I used Duck Egg for the color and the clear and dark wax to distress it. I'm very excited how it turned out. My bedroom is starting to take form.. It's only taken 16 months... :)

I decided to keep the hardware on and just paint over it. I think it looks good. I don't feel like I need to add new hardware.

I hope you enjoy the pictures...

My quote from today:  "I will never paint something this big again UNLESS I am making money doing it!" HA! so if you are interested in me painting something for you, remember size matters! Let me know what you think! Good night!

Wine:Thirty

Last night I decided to go to mom's house rather than going back to Baton Rouge. Needless to say, after I finished my work (my real job), it was Wine:Thirty so I didn't get around to writing on my blog. To those of you who know my family and the farm, this is no surprise!!! I had so much fun with my aunt and mom.. I haven't laughed that much in a while! I definitely will have to make it a monthly occasion .. Mr. Possum ( or is it opussum) even came to visit while I was here... GROSS!

NOW.... to the point of this blog......

I wanted to share my FIRST ever Annie Sloan Chalk Paint project. My sister gave me a "toy chest" that she literally had in her trash pile. Being that I need SOOO much furniture in my house, I snatched  it  right up and now use it as blanket storage. This piece of furniture is what inspired me to paint furniture which, as y'all know,  has  become my new obsession. I don't have a before picture because I painted this way before I thought I would even start blogging about it. It was a deep cheery wood (similar to my dresser I just painted) and you guys know how much I LOVE cherry wood :) I used Old Orche with clear wax then dark wax. Like I said, IT WAS MY FIRST so there are things I would do differently now... but you know what they say... you always love your first even if you made some mistakes Man,, I'm funny!...

There is this technique where you add water to the paint and thin it out then paint it on and wipe it off (google it if you are interested)...May do that.. but I have a few other projects that I need to finish before tackling that project.... Let me know what y'all think! I love to read yall's comments!

It's a little streaky.. but it was before I knew how to do it..

Table talk

My sister has this table in her living room that was just a little too dark... She saw what changes were going on 2 doors down and begged asked me to redo her table... With a little arm twisting, we came to a dollar amount that I was okay with... One million dollars! Haha! Not really but I did make ask her to help paint and with that I put her in charge of all of those deep crevices. They were a pain challenge.

The table isn't done but I just wanted to share with y'all a preview! I can already tell it is going to be amazing and the wax isn't even on it. Finished pics to come!

Decided that JUST the top painted wasn't enough

Chalk Paint!

Rookie Mistake

Rookie Mistake Opportunity to learn:

So, I kept contemplating about the new hardware and I just didn't like it. I started to some research last night on some other AS projects out there with similar 80's furniture. What I learned is that you can paint right over the hardware and distress it to make it look amazing. You don't have to go spend $50 on new hardware to give it a semi - updated look. That being said, I woke this morning and put back on my old hardware. Now, the question is to paint or not to paint (the hardware).

Duck Egg is My Latest Fave!

This is my first blog post ever! I have always thought about starting a blog but I didn't think my life was that interesting. I am married with no children so I don't have much to blog about except I guess how bad the Saints are doing or how terrible LSU looks BUT then I found a new love/hobby/obsession.... and it benefits my husband because I am updating furniture with paint... NOT buying new furniture... so I am saving money plus enjoying this new hobby... It's a win win in the Venturi household!!!

Now to the point of this blog.... When we first moved to Louisiana, we had NO furniture. Thankfully, we came across this dresser and a matching hutch that was given to us for FREE! I was never fond of cherry wood finishes as well as bright gold hardware but since it was free, I couldn't be too picky. Then one day I came across Annie Sloan Chalk Paint that has changed my life! I have already painted three pieces of furniture for myself as well as a table for my sister! I love to share the awesome outcome of my projects with my friends so this is why I am here tonight posting my latest creation for my room! I am Ecstatic how it turned out.. the only questionable thing is the hardware. I am not sold on it. I am trying to decide whether I should put the old hardware back on the dresser and paint over it or exchange them for different ones...maybe yall can help me... (if I get followers)

I can already tell that the more I use this paint the better my projects turn out. I am hoping to take a class soon and get even better with different techniques I am researching.

Below is my latest creation... give me your feed back. Wold love to know any thoughts, advice, ideas!
